MUN (Model United Nations) Conference Cum Training
Model United Nations is an academic simulation of the United Nations where students play the role of delegates from different countries and attempt to solve real world issues using the policies and perspectives of their assigned country. Model UN is a valuable experience that can inspire students to change the world by finding viable solutions to world issues.
Edify School, Kanakapura Road, Bengaluru hosted the first Inter- Edify MUN (Mode United Nations) Training cum Conference from 06-02-2015 to 08-02-2015, at the Synergy Block of the School.
The inaugural function commenced at 10.15 am, after the registrations, with an invocation song by the school choir group. Ms. Niti Mahendra, the Principal, Edify School, Bengaluru, welcomed the gathering. The programme was inaugurated by Mr. K.Chandramouli, a passionate self driven environmentalist. The guests who were invited onto the dais were Mr. Ashok Gowda, the Promoter of Edify School, Electronic City; Ms. Vandana Sanjay, the Principal of Edify School, Electronic City; Ms. Manmeet Kahlon, Academic Coordinator, MDN Edify Education PVT. LTD.
Ms. Karishma Dugar, a final year law student from Christ college Bengaluru, and an accomplished MUNer, and has quite a few years of experience in conducting and participating in MUNs, conducted the training which was attended by 60 participants (Students and Teachers) for 3 days. The first day included a session of introduction to the UN General Assembly and others too, this was followed by a post lunch debating session. For the second Day a topic was given for the participants to discuss the next day. Day three, was a simulation of the actual proceedings of the UN general assembly. Each of the students representing different nations were amazing with their display of the learning from the last two days and were extremely dignified in their repartees. It was indeed a joy to see the participants work hard over night to get information regarding the policies of the countries they represented in regards to UAV’s. The program left participants thirsting for more and the feedback was extremely positive and encouraging.
The event ended with the valedictory function where all participants were awarded certificates of participation and awards were given to the Best Delegate and there were other special mentions too.
